With the Tube et Béret floor lamp, Andrée Putman develops a design language based on verticality and the lightness of line. Its elongated, rigorous form is grounded in a simple geometry that emphasizes the clarity of its silhouette. The lamp is composed like a graphic outline, structuring space without visually overwhelming it. The combination of materials—metal and satin mirror—introduces a subtle interplay of reflection and light diffusion. The reflective surface captures and transforms its surroundings, while the satin finish softens the effect, producing a gentle, enveloping glow. This interaction between material and light gives the object a presence that is both discreet and active, allowing it to adapt to different environments without ever dominating them. Between formal precision and luminous sensitivity, Tube et Béret proposes an approach to lighting design in which function fades into a carefully controlled perceptual experience.
