With this wall light, Andrée Putman develops a design language in which the surface becomes a place of vibration, poised between transparency and opacity. The piece takes the form of a rectangle of frosted glass, set like a precious stone. This treatment gives the object a quality that is both refined and restrained, faithful to the designer’s aesthetic.
The glass is worked through a subtle checkerboard effect created by the alternation of polished areas and more diffused surfaces. This variation in treatment generates a sense of depth and animates the light without relying on ornament.
Filtered through the material, the light spreads softly and with nuance, revealing the sensory qualities of the glass and the precision of its craftsmanship.
Between geometric rigor and luminous delicacy, this wall light proposes an approach to lighting design in which the material itself becomes decoration.
