Andrée Putman’s Parisian Loft
1978
In the late 1970s, Andrée Putman transformed a former 19th-century printing house in Saint-Germain-des-Prés into a vast, light-filled loft. Open volumes and large glass partitions reveal a free and flexible space, conceived both as a living environment and a working studio. True to her aesthetic, the designer favored the simplicity of materials and the precision of proportions, allowing light to shape the architecture. Extended by a suspended garden overlooking the rooftops of Paris, the loft became a personal laboratory where modernist furniture coexisted with objects collected over time. It remained her home until 2013.
