The Trois Carats et demi coffee table is among the earliest creations of Andrée Putman. From 1984 onward, it occupied a central place in her Paris loft, reflecting the designer’s particular attachment to this piece. With its assertive volume and low height, the table evokes the spirit of the 1970s while establishing a presence that is almost architectural. Its sculptural legs, faceted like a precious stone, recall the world of jewelry and fine craftsmanship — a recurring source of inspiration in Andrée Putman’s work. This reference to preciousness contrasts with the table’s dense materiality and deliberately substantial silhouette, creating an elegant tension between delicacy and strength.
